Club Spotlight BPA

BPA stands for Business Professionals of America. Dyan
Larsen sponsors this club. BPA gives anyone the option to
further explore the business side of things. BPA has many other
chapters throughout the state of Iowa and throughout the
United States.
This club allows students to compete within various
topics at regional, state, and national levels. Some of the topics
include interview skills, banking and finance, and even medical
office procedures. With the variety of topics, everyone has
chance to find out what interests them the most. BPA helped
me realize that I wanted to go into the medical field because
that topic came easier to me than others.
BPA is not only about testing and competing with other
chapters. Mrs. Larsen always takes the whole chapter on a field
trip in the spring. During these field trips, we are allowed to go
“behind the scenes” with big companies or businesses. For
example one year we got to tour the Federal Reserve Bank
down in Kansas City. As a club, we also volunteer with many
activities. Our biggest one is helping with Special Olympics up
at the Iowa Western Community College.
